I\u2019ll never forget the event our women\u2019s ministry team held that <strong>one\u00a0person showed up<\/strong> to attend.<\/p>\n<p>For months our team had been planning and promoting a toy and clothing swap. Our church hosted a large preschool program during the week and we believed this was the perfect outreach event.<\/p>\n<p>We distributed flyers to the preschool families, publicized the event heavily to our church members, and collected a large number of toys and clothing for the swap.<\/p>\n<p>We were expecting a great turnout.<\/p>\n<p>One of our team members spent hours organizing all of the donations by size. It was an impressive sight!<\/p>\n<h4>Despite our prayer and our planning, statistically speaking our event was a total flop!<\/h4>\n<p>As we work to process a seemingly failed event, we must be careful not to fall subject to Satan\u2019s schemes.<\/p>\n<h5>Satan wants:<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Your team to feel like a failure.<\/li>\n<li>To leave you discouraged.<\/li>\n<li>To minimize any and all blessings from the event<\/li>\n<li>We must stand firm trusting that God has a greater plan and our response needs to mirror our faith.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Consider the following steps as you lead your team through the experience of what appears to be a women\u2019s ministry fail.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>8 Steps to Take after a Ministry Fail<\/h4>\n<h5>1. Pray<\/h5>\n<p>Ask God to give you His perspective on what transpired. Pray individually, but also pray corporately.<\/p>\n<h5>2. Sit and Soak<\/h5>\n<p>Spend some time just sitting and soaking in God\u2019s Word. Turn on some worship music and allow it to be a balm to your soul.<\/p>\n<h5>3. Grieve<\/h5>\n<p>You may feel that every minute spent planning, preparing, and delivering your event was a complete waste. Take time to morn. Let your grief be between you and God and then let it go. Don\u2019t let Satan gain a foothold.<\/p>\n<h5>4. Remember<\/h5>\n<p>Remember that God\u2019s Word does not return void. Every time we share God\u2019s Word it makes a difference. (See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Isaiah+55%3A11&amp;version=HCSB\">Isaiah 55:11<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<h5>5. Reflect<\/h5>\n<p>Fill out a <a href=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/post-event-evaluation-form\/\">Post Event Evaluation Form<\/a> with your team \u2013 note what went well and discuss what changes may need to be made going forward.<\/p>\n<h5>6. Modify<\/h5>\n<p>Make necessary modifications, don\u2019t just talk about them. Change the date or time. Decrease the cost Get your publicity out far in advance.<\/p>\n<h5>7. Acknowledge<\/h5>\n<p>Acknowledge that Satan does not want your ministry to succeed. Pray that God would protect your next event and that He would give you the strength to press on when attacks come.<\/p>\n<h5>8. Celebrate<\/h5>\n<p>Celebrate the good things about the event. Did your team bond? Did you have a great volunteer staff? Did someone accept Christ?<\/p>\n<h4>That event we were so quick to label as a failure, was in fact not.<\/h4>\n<p>The Missions Team at our church took the clothes and toys to an apartment complex where our church had been doing outreach to the Youth for a couple of years.<\/p>\n<p>Together our women\u2019s ministry and missions teams helped families in the apartment complex \u201cshop\u201d for Christmas gifts for their family.<\/p>\n<p>More than one dear child asked for help in finding a gift for their brother or sister. They weren\u2019t picking out items for themselves, but for others!
