{"id":5804,"date":"2016-04-12T10:00:18","date_gmt":"2016-04-12T14:00:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/?p=5804"},"modified":"2017-02-18T18:55:54","modified_gmt":"2017-02-18T23:55:54","slug":"women-really-want-womens-ministry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/women-really-want-womens-ministry\/","title":{"rendered":"What Women Really Want from Your Women&#8217;s Ministry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5805\" src=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/What-Women-Really-Want-from-Your-Womens-Ministry.png\" alt=\"What Women Really Want from Your Women's Ministry\" width=\"600\" height=\"675\" srcset=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/What-Women-Really-Want-from-Your-Womens-Ministry.png 600w, https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/What-Women-Really-Want-from-Your-Womens-Ministry-267x300.png 267w, https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/What-Women-Really-Want-from-Your-Womens-Ministry-300x338.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Nine years ago our then-new women\u2019s ministry team longed to include the\u00a0things the women in our church <em>really wanted<\/em>\u00a0in our ministry plans.<\/p>\n<p>It was our deepest desire to meet our women\u00a0where they were and to provide events, activities, and resources that would encourage them in their walk with Christ.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>There was no sense in wasting our time, budget, or energy on events and activities our women didn\u2019t want.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We needed to find a way to figure out if our team\u2019s ideas aligned with the wants and desires of the women in our church.<\/p>\n<p>We were looking to the answers to questions like these:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What topics are they interested in?<\/li>\n<li>Do our women want to go on a fall retreat?<\/li>\n<li>Would they prefer we focus on local or international missions?<\/li>\n<li>Which day of the week and which time of day will most of our women be able to attend?<\/li>\n<li>Is there really a big need for childcare at our events?<\/li>\n<li>What\u2019s the make-up of the women in our church? Older? Young moms? Working full time?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The best way we could figure out what our women wanted was to ask them!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So we came up with a one-page paper survey. Keep in mind this was 9 years ago. At that time many of our older women did not have email\/internet.<\/p>\n<p>Chances are most of your women do now.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a copy of the very survey we used. I served on the women\u2019s ministry team in two. If I were to do that survey again, there are some things I would definitely add\/change.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How I would add\/change that paper survey:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1. I\u2019d put the survey online. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can always print a paper copy if there are a few women that need one. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.surveymonkey.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">SurveyMonkey<\/a> is free if you stick to 10 questions. We\u2019re using <a href=\"http:\/\/google.com\/forms\" target=\"_blank\">Google Forms<\/a> (it\u2019s free) for our surveys and love it! Try to keep your surveys as short and simple as you can.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Add additional age ranges. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I have no idea why we stopped so young! I would break it into decades 18 \u2013 29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-89, 90+.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Add a section asking about their availability. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019d create a table (we did on a later survey by the way) with every day of the week broken into chunks 9-Noon, Noon \u2013 2, 2 \u2013 4, 7 \u2013 9. Ask when their schedule will usually allow them to attend. Give them space to make a comment on their availability. Lord willing, you\u2019ll see some patterns and know when to and not to plan events and activities.<\/p>\n<p>I share all of this with you all because many of you have requested a survey like this on my <a href=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/seven-super-survey-questions\/\" target=\"_blank\">Seven Super Survey Questions post<\/a>. Once word got out that I had one buried in my files requests kept pouring in.<\/p>\n<p>I hope you\u2019ll take this survey and update it and tweak it to use for your church.
