{"id":3904,"date":"2015-04-24T10:00:57","date_gmt":"2015-04-24T14:00:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/?p=3904"},"modified":"2020-08-25T15:54:55","modified_gmt":"2020-08-25T19:54:55","slug":"the-best-devotional-you-can-share","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/the-best-devotional-you-can-share\/","title":{"rendered":"The Best Devotional You Can Share"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/The-Best-Devotional-You-Can-Share.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3907\" src=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/The-Best-Devotional-You-Can-Share.png\" alt=\"The Best Devotional You Can Share\" width=\"600\" height=\"730\" srcset=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/The-Best-Devotional-You-Can-Share.png 600w, https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/The-Best-Devotional-You-Can-Share-247x300.png 247w, https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/The-Best-Devotional-You-Can-Share-300x365.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Do you all share a devotional\u00a0at your women&#8217;s ministry meetings?<\/p>\n<p>We do.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Most of our women\u2019s ministry fellowships include\u00a0a short devotional before we get to the focus of our time together (ie. making <a title=\"Local Mission Project Idea: No-Sew Fleece Blankets\" href=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/local-mission-project-idea-no-sew-fleece-blankets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">no-sew fleece blankets<\/a>, learning a skill, making <a title=\"Encouragement: Blessing Bags\" href=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/encouragement-blessing-bags\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">blessing bags<\/a>, <a title=\"How to Host a Memorable Movie Night\" href=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/host-a-movie-night\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">watching a movie<\/a>, etc.).<\/p>\n<p>I admit<em> I used to<\/em> thumb through different devotional books looking for some story the women would find encouraging or moving.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve used sweet stories I\u2019ve gotten through email and Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>I probably even printed out a devotional or two from a website&#8230; Okay, I totally have.<\/p>\n<p><strong>God can certainly use all those tools, BUT He longs to use you (and me) more.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>The very best devotional you can share comes from your life and from your heart.<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/The-very-best-devotional-you-can-share-comes-from-your-life-and-from-your-heart.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3908\" src=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/The-very-best-devotional-you-can-share-comes-from-your-life-and-from-your-heart.png\" alt=\"The very best devotional you can share comes from your life and from your heart\" width=\"600\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/The-very-best-devotional-you-can-share-comes-from-your-life-and-from-your-heart.png 600w, https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/The-very-best-devotional-you-can-share-comes-from-your-life-and-from-your-heart-300x188.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Honest.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. <strong>Your women will connect with YOU &#8211; not a book or an author.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2. It makes you more \u201creal\u201d. <strong>Your women need to experience your transparency.<\/strong> Many of them put you up on a pedestal and think you\u2019ve got it all together. Most of us don\u2019t!<\/p>\n<p>3. <strong>It models sharing.<\/strong> Your women need to share their stories with others. When you do it they begin to think they can too!<\/p>\n<p>4. <strong>Sometimes it\u2019s as much for us as it is for them.<\/strong> God may be opening your eyes to something He is doing in your life.<\/p>\n<p>5. <strong>Our women need to hear about how God is working in our lives.<\/strong> It encourages them to look at how God is working in theirs!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Our-women-need-to-hear-about-how-God-is-working-in-our-lives..png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3912\" src=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Our-women-need-to-hear-about-how-God-is-working-in-our-lives..png\" alt=\"Our women need to hear about how God is working in our lives.\" width=\"600\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Our-women-need-to-hear-about-how-God-is-working-in-our-lives..png 600w, https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Our-women-need-to-hear-about-how-God-is-working-in-our-lives.-300x175.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>6. <strong>It is Biblical.<\/strong> We are supposed to share what God is doing and what He has done. See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=luke+8%3A39&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Luke 8:39<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=2+Timothy+1%3A8&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2 Tim 1:8<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm+71%3A15-18&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Psalm 71: 15-18<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm+66%3A16&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Psalm 66:16<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1+Peter+3%3A15&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">1 Pet 3:15<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I had planned to start this post by sharing the definition of a devotional. It was harder than I expected.
