We were given approximately 10\u00a0really hard, random trivia questions to answer.<\/p>\n<p>Two were Bible based, so if your Bible knowledge is lacking you were at a disadvantage.<\/p>\n<p>I heard many others around me grumbling about how hard it was.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Instead of being fun, it was frustrating.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If we had played in teams, rather than individually, I think the response would have been much different.<\/p>\n<p>That got me to thinking about other ways that icebreakers &#8220;go wrong&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>I hope this\u00a0list of <strong>10 Things Icebreakers Should Not Do<\/strong> will prevent any icebreakers you do from being a &#8220;fail&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Icebreakers should not:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>1. <strong>Make anyone feel stupid<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Trivia-type games should be played in teams<\/li>\n<li>Assume there are women in attendance with little to no Bible knowledge<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>2. <strong>Humiliate anyone<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Always ask for volunteers<\/li>\n<li>For something really silly\/messy recruit a willing friend<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>3. <strong>Cause division<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prizes should be minimal to eliminate any jealousy (such as small candies)<\/li>\n<li>Create new teams for each icebreaker<\/li>\n<li>Stay far away from controversial topics (breastfeeding, politics, homeschooling, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>4. <strong>Exclude someone from participation<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Take into account the physical limitations of your specific group<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>5.<strong> Reinforce cliques<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Divide your women into teams \u2013 by color, numbers, stickers, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>6. <strong>Be boring<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your icebreaker coordinator needs to be exciting and fun<\/li>\n<li>Choose an icebreaker you would want to do and sell it!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>7. <strong>Take time away from the speaker\/program for the evening<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Know the time you have and plan accordingly<\/li>\n<li>Wrap things up quickly if things get out of control in any way<\/li>\n<li>Be prepared \u2013 have supplies ready to go and practice the icebreaker if needed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>8. <strong>Encourage the sharing of secrets or lies<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It\u2019s just not Biblical<\/li>\n<li>Be prepared to squelch any \u201cover-sharing\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>9. <strong>Cause discomfort or anxiety<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Always give them the option to choose another question or skip an item<\/li>\n<li>Take care\u00a0not to put\u00a0anyone on the spot<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>10. <strong>Violate any church policies<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you\u2019d be embarrassed if the pastor came in during the icebreaker &#8211;\u00a0don\u2019t do it!<\/li>\n<li>Use wisdom when choosing music, content, video clips, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Looking for great icebreakers?<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll find lots more <a href=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/icebreakers-games\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">here<\/span><\/a> and on my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pinterest.com\/wmtoolbox\/wmtoolbox-icebreakers-and-games\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Pinterest page<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You may also want to read:<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/icebreakers-games\/\">Icebreakers &amp;
