It was <em>huge<\/em> there were many workshops to pick from. There was <em>so<\/em> much to learn and <em>so<\/em> many leaders to connect with and meet. It was overwhelming but in a good way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I left that women&#8217;s ministry conference excited to implement some new things in our women&#8217;s ministry program. I felt better equipped to do the role God had called me to serve in, and I couldn&#8217;t wait to get back and dive back into women&#8217;s ministry again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I pray the same will be true for you and your team when you invest in women&#8217;s ministry training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5 Types of Women\u2019s Ministry Training<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Online Courses or Webinars<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A quick online search for &#8220;women&#8217;s ministry training&#8221; yeilds many options. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several seminaries offer certifications and courses that you may want to consider taking. Some are geared more specifically toward women&#8217;s ministry, but many also offer theology courses. Many ministries, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.simpleseminary.org\/a\/2147522417\/6o6zNyvc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\">Simple Seminary<\/a>, offer online courses that may interest you. I offer several self-paced online courses, including <a href=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.teachable.com\/p\/women-s-ministry-event-planning-101\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Women&#8217;s Ministry Event Planning<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.teachable.com\/p\/bible-study-facilitator-training\">Bible Study Facilitator Training<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.teachable.com\/p\/womens-ministry-makeover-training-video-only\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Women&#8217;s Ministry Makeover<\/a> program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As you consider your options, be certain you understand the costs, commitment, and theological viewpoint of each resource. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Women\u2019s ministry conferences<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If your church is part of a denomination, check with your state and national-level offices to find out what is offered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll also find a handful of organizations that offer women\u2019s ministry conferences. Host outside experts<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Outside experts can be an excellent resource for teaching skills and sharing information outside of your wheelhouse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You may want your team to learn how to counsel women. Knowing when to point women to a professional is key. You could bring in a local counselor that could answer questions and explain legal responsibilities in your state. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You could also bring in a seasoned women\u2019s ministry leader that offers in-person training \u2013 like me (<a href=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/leader-training\/\">click here to see a list of my training topics<\/a>). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Determine what you want to learn and find someone with experience who can teach it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Team retreats <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>We unpacked this in great detail in <a href=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/how-to-plan-a-womens-ministry-team-retreat\/\">this recent post here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Volunteer training<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to training your core women\u2019s ministry team, you\u2019ll want to <strong>train key women\u2019s ministry volunteers<\/strong> such as <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/supporting-bible-study-discipleship-and-small-group-leaders\/\">Bible study and small group leaders<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/discussion-group-leaders-for-your-retreat\/\">table leaders<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong>prayer counselors.<\/strong> Depending on the responsibilities, volunteer training might require just one meeting and a handout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ve covered the how, let\u2019s walk through the why. <strong>Why is women\u2019s ministry training important?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5 Great Benefits of Women\u2019s Ministry Training<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Knowledge <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Knowledge is what sets training apart from a regular women\u2019s ministry conference.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We attend training expecting to <strong>learn new skills<\/strong> and refine the ones we have. You might attend a workshop or take a course on how to be a better group facilitator, how to launch a mentoring program, increase engagement in your Facebook group, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Team-building<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>It\u2019s easier to work with someone you know than someone you don\u2019t.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Training together is an experience that will connect you in many ways beyond listening to the same content. Unity<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Unity is created when everyone receives the same training.<\/strong><br><br>We <strong>eliminate assumptions<\/strong> and <strong>set clear expectations<\/strong> when we learn together. Think of the things everyone (or almost everyone) on your team needs to know. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aalmost everyone on your team needs to know how to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Submit a reimbursement request<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fill out an event form<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit a publicity request<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wash the dishes in the kitchen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Run the coffee pot<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sanitize the nursery toys<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reset the room for Sunday morning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lock the door with that special hidden key. <em>(You&#8217;ve got one of those two, right? <\/em>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I heard a leader recently comment about plugging holes \u2013 <strong>we need to be ready to plug holes when other team members are out of town or out of commission<\/strong>. Women get sick, kids get sick, people move, and husbands have to work late. <strong>Understanding what others do on the team can help your team run more smoothly.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Time-saving<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Training saves time. Admittedly, there\u2019s an investment of time on the front end to save time on the back end. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Great training includes best practices or ideas for shortcuts<\/strong> your team members may not have thought of. The best trainers will<strong> share tools and resources<\/strong> with you. You may learn about a new time-saving app that your team can use to take attendance, send texts, or share prayer requests. You might learn a new method for creating an event calendar or meeting agenda that will allow you to use your meeting time more efficiently. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take great notes and <strong>set aside time<\/strong> when you return<strong> to review those resources<\/strong> so you can simplify or improve your ministry processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Encouragement<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Good women\u2019s ministry training doesn\u2019t just equip your team, it encourages your team.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You might spend time together in God\u2019s Word being reminded of who He is and what He can do through each one of you.
