Maybe you host a dinner with hostesses decorating the tables, maybe you play games and eat a meal together, or maybe you do a gift or ornament exchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>None of those are bad ideas, but <strong>perhaps it\u2019s time to change things up a bit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Consider these questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Is your team <strong>running out of steam<\/strong> after restarting your women\u2019s ministry post-covid?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Could you<strong> reach women you haven\u2019t in years past<\/strong> by doing something different?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Could pressing pausing, even just for a year, allow your women to <strong>experience something new and fresh<\/strong> that would point their hearts to Christ this Christmas season?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Does God want to do something new<\/strong> through your women and your team?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you answered yes to any of these questions, I\u2019ve got some ideas for you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I pray as I share the following ideas with you that God will make His plans for your women clear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4 Christmas Event Concepts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Each concept includes several specific event ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1.  Christmas Workshops<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I love offering <a href=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/fellowship-idea-workshops\/\">workshops<\/a> &#8211; they are interactive and provide an opportunity for women to share their gifts and skills with others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Christmas craft workshop ideas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recruit 2-3 women to coordinate making some crafts. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consider offering at least two different crafts options at different price points. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make <strong>Christmas crafts<\/strong>, such as a sign or wreath for the door.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Or make <strong>crafts that would make a great gift<\/strong>, such as a visual calendar with family birthdays and anniversaries. (I made one several years ago and gifted it to my Mother-in-law. She loves it and enjoys adding new birthdays and anniversaries as our families grow.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A leader in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/womensministrytoolboxcommunity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Women\u2019s Ministry Toolbox Facebook group<\/a> shared the idea of having women <strong>teach others how to make special Christmas candy recipes<\/strong>. Think of family recipes that have been passed down for generations or unique foods from other countries and cultures such as pizzelles or homemade caramels. If you\u2019ve got the space or smaller numbers, everyone might be able to make their own batch to take home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Your team may find it\u2019s best to host your workshops in November rather than early December.<\/strong> If at all possible, strive to make them interactive and not just mini-lectures. Even if your space only allows for demos, encourage the women who are teaching to ask for volunteers to help stir ingredients and hand them supplies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Serve or Bless Others<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are several ideas for serving and blessings others:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Make Christmas cookies<\/strong> and<strong> deliver them to firefighters, police officers, or nurses at your local hospital<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Help the families in your church that are <strong>fostering children<\/strong> with Christmas gifts. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Serve the single moms<\/strong> in your church <strong>by offering childcare<\/strong> one evening so they can go Christmas shopping. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assemble and <strong>send care packages to college students <\/strong>as they take their final exams or <strong>men and women serving overseas<\/strong>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Spread some Christmas cheer <\/strong>with the Gift of No Dishes throughout a neighborhood near your church. Here&#8217;s a link to the <a href=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/the-gift-of-no-dishes-free-printable\/\">Gift of No Dishes<\/a>. <em>Be sure to add an invite to your church\u2019s Christmas activities and a list of upcoming women\u2019s ministry events to each bag.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Imagine the impact your women could make if you took the budget for your Christmas party and used it to <strong>buy coffee for people at a local coffee shop<\/strong>! You could prepare postcard-sized invitations for your church\u2019s Christmas service to hand to each drink recipient.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">As you consider who to serve or bless, don\u2019t forget to reach out to your missions pastor to find out what needs there are in your area.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. A Christmas Celebration for Others<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Your women could <strong>throw a Christmas party for other people<\/strong> \u2013 instead of a party for yourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Think of all the groups of people that would be blessed by a Christmas party:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Teachers or students at an under-served school<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nurses and doctors in an emergency room<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Senior adults in a nursing home<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Women and children at a local shelter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Even your church staff<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Invite your women to sign up to take care of all the details \u2013 food, paper goods, music, decorations, gifts, and games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or instead of a party, <strong>decorate the yard or home of a special church member or family<\/strong>. Be a part of a Christmas blessing to a family facing a critical illness. <em>Just be sure to make plans to take it down after the holidays are over.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">I think you\u2019ll find it\u2019s more fun (and fruitful) to bless others than to pamper yourselves! <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The person that oversees missions in your church may know of a specific need here too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Simply Still<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Simply Still Is an event idea I stumbled upon years ago on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reviveourhearts.com\/articles\/simply-still-different-kind-christmas-event\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Revive Our Hearts blog here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s a quick synopsis. Women are invited to spend one hour being still before the Lord and soaking in His Word. It\u2019s setting aside space to be still in the midst of a busy holiday season &#8211; something every woman can benefit from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While you can certainly tailor the event to your women, here\u2019s a quick rundown of what the event might look like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A welcome and opening prayer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A solo to prepare the heart.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Slow Scripture readings with time to reflect, meditate, or journal between each reading.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Singing Silent Night corporately with a candle lighting at the end.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>No d\u00e9cor is necessary<\/strong>, especially if your church is already decorated for Christmas.
