In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=romans+1%3A8&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Romans 1:8<\/a>, Paul says, \u201cI thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is proclaimed in all the world.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1+thessalonians+1%3A2&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1 Thessalonians 1:2<\/a> says, \u201cWe give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Volunteer appreciation can and should be distributed verbally on an ongoing basis.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our women\u2019s ministry team director, Becky, does a great job of this. She is quick to express her thanks and recognizes how God has worked in and through each one of us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Volunteer appreciation may also involve giving your volunteers a gift once a year (or more if you like to give them small little happies).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I love to give gifts of appreciation to women\u2019s ministry volunteers and team members. I love to shop and I love to find a great bargain. I keep my eye out all year long for gifts for people. If you need some gift ideas, I\u2019ve got plenty of tips and ideas to share with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading advgb-dyn-154f1ddb\">4 Things to Consider When Giving Gifts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\">\n<li><strong>What is your budget?<\/strong> How much do you want to spend per person? Is this coming out of your personal budget or the church budget? Either way, <strong>determine what you\u2019ll spend<\/strong> before you begin browsing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Who will receive a gift? <\/strong>Are you doing something for all of your Bible study or small group leaders? Are you just thanking your women\u2019s ministry team members? Regardless, <strong>make a list and check it twice<\/strong> to make sure you don\u2019t inadvertently leave someone off your list!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Can (or will) the recipient use it?<\/strong> If you\u2019re giving a gift card, is this a place that person will go? Food is tricky \u2013 you need to be aware of any <strong>dietary restrictions and preferences<\/strong>. If Susan is working to remove sugar from her diet, please don\u2019t give her a box of fudge. If Jill can\u2019t have gluten, please don\u2019t give her a container of Christmas cookies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Do you want your gift to be connected to Christ?<\/strong> Is it important to you that your gift provides s<strong>piritual encouragement<\/strong>? Are you looking for something that has a verse on it?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that you\u2019ve thought through the who and why, let\u2019s dig into some gift ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading advgb-dyn-c8d8e744\">8 Volunteer Appreciation Gift Ideas:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading advgb-dyn-54e89674\">1. Handwritten cards<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p> I have a drawer in our nightstand where I keep every thank you card I\u2019ve received. While I\u2019ve never pulled them out to re-read them, maybe I will someday when I retire from women\u2019s ministry. There is something special about someone taking the time to handwrite a thank you note. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Don\u2019t underestimate the value of a card and personal note.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading advgb-dyn-a2775425\">2. Gift cards<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The amount can be tricky to determine. After one event we were given gift cards to a local ice cream store that were the exact amount for a milkshake with a note to enjoy a milkshake. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether you give $5 gift cards, $25 gift cards, or something larger, <strong>be mindful of being a good steward<\/strong>. Word will get around about what your volunteers received and you don\u2019t want to be called into the church office over concerns that you were misusing church funds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading advgb-dyn-f89b4f1e\">3. Homemade food<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe you have a secret Christmas candy recipe that\u2019s been passed down for generations. At one church we were given bottles of a secret seasoning mix \u2013 it was amazing \u2013 though at first, I was a bit underwhelmed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just be certain <strong>the recipient can enjoy the gift <\/strong>herself \u2013 it\u2019s no fun to watch your family members devour a gift that was meant for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading advgb-dyn-294ee625\">4. Jewelry<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Jewelry can be very taste-specific, so if you go this route get <strong>select something that\u2019s classic<\/strong>. One year I found bracelets with a treasure box charm that tied in perfectly with our theme for the year. I was SO excited to give them to our team. Unfortunately, I didn\u2019t take into account the size of everyone\u2019s wrist and at least one team member couldn\u2019t wear hers as it was too small.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading advgb-dyn-42095b0f\">5.<strong> <\/strong>Books<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe you read a book this last year that make a huge impact on you or maybe you want to give each volunteer a small devotional. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to encourage your volunteers to read the Bible, consider purchasing a paperback copy of my book, <a href=\"A Bible Study Plan for Unpacking God\u2019s Word\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\">READ: A Bible Study Plan for Unpacking God\u2019s Word<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading advgb-dyn-87ef10db\">6. Candles, lotions, and bath soaps<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>This is another area I suggest you proceed with caution. Many women I know avoid products with certain chemicals. <strong>Scents can trigger asthma attacks and allergies.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading advgb-dyn-480a0c53\">7.<strong> <\/strong>Volunteer Dinners<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Some women\u2019s ministry teams, especially in larger churches host a volunteer appreciation dinner. Often these dinners are held at Christmas. You might host a dinner for your Bible study leaders at the end of the semester. Sometimes attendees are also given a small gift. If you\u2019re providing a nice meal, you may want to<strong> consider inviting spouses<\/strong> to attend too.<br><br>If you\u2019re considering hosting a dinner, be sure you provide an opportunity for attendees to share any <strong>allergies or food restrictions<\/strong>. We were once invited to a volunteer dinner. They served spaghetti, garlic bread, and salad. Knowing I could probably only eat a salad since I\u2019m gluten-free, I had a snack before we left the house. Unfortunately, they had already added croutons to all of the salad so I wasn\u2019t able to eat anything. I tried to make the best of it and visited with others, several of whom were concerned that I wasn\u2019t eating. It made an awkward situation even worse.<br><br>And one more tip, don\u2019t forget to<strong> provide childcare<\/strong> for your meal. It\u2019s not much of a thank you if any of your attendees have to pay a babysitter \u2013 they might even opt to stay home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading advgb-dyn-c8b610dd\">8. Swag<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Tote bags, mugs, notebooks, t-shirts \u2013 These might feature your women\u2019s ministry logo or a Bible verse. You can have something custom-made or not. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading advgb-dyn-de6cead3\">Homemade Gift Ideas<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/womensministrytoolbox.com\/the-gift-of-no-dishes-free-printable\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Gift of No Dishes <\/a><\/strong>\u2013 Give your volunteers the night off from doing the dishes! If you\u2019re giving $10 gift cards, take the time to pick something out specifically for each person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>However you decide to show your volunteers appreciation, please keep in mind that you\u2019re setting a precedent. What you do this year will be expected again next year.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading advgb-dyn-7d91315f\">Today\u2019s Toolbox Tasks:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\">\n<li><strong>Make a list <\/strong>of volunteers you want to thank.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Decide <strong>when and how <\/strong>you\u2019ll thank them.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><em>And in case no one has told YOU lately, you are appreciated! God is using you to further His Kingdom through your service in the women\u2019s ministry in your local church.
