\"Don't<\/p>\n

Mistakes are inevitable.<\/p>\n

I know from experience<\/em> the damage, frustration, and division that can happen when we rush to put together or add to our team.<\/p>\n

It’s easy to let our\u00a0enthusiasm\u00a0and excitement hinder God’s design for our team by jumping ahead of Him.<\/p>\n

I’ll never forget what happened years ago when my co-leaders spontaneously added a new member to our team.<\/p>\n

I was shocked and disappointed she didn’t bring me into the loop on that decision.<\/p>\n

I suspect she didn’t ask, because she knew I would have some reservations.<\/p>\n

The hurry to fill an empty position without pausing to pray hurt our team in the long run.<\/p>\n

We should have waited on God’s timing to fill that role (if He even did) rather than rush ahead of Him.<\/p>\n

Sad to say, it was not my only experience over the years with mistakes leaders making when building a women’s ministry team.<\/p>\n

The list below is one I hope you’ll take to heart and make a matter of prayer.<\/p>\n

Here are 5 common mistakes leaders make when building and\/or expanding their Women’s Ministry Team.<\/h5>\n

1. Open Casting Call<\/strong> \u2013 Team members need to be vetted and prayed over. Please do not<\/em> place a “wanted ad” in your church bulletin.<\/p>\n

2. Forget to Diversify<\/strong> \u2013 Look for others like themselves. As fun as it would be, don’t fill your team with your buddies and besties. Aim for a wide range of ages and experiences.<\/p>\n

3. Vague Expectations<\/strong> \u2013 Fail to define roles and responsibilities. Consider creating a Women’s Ministry binder <\/a>for each team member.<\/p>\n

4. Skip the Welcome Wagon<\/strong> \u2013 New members need 1-on-1 intro and orientation. Grab lunch or have them over for coffee. Take the time to build relationships. Team members need time to socialize and get to know each other.<\/p>\n

5. Filling it Fast<\/strong> \u2013 Be open to God\u2019s timing and His filling of the positions. He may add\/delete in unexpected areas. He may also leave a spot empty for an extended period of time.<\/p>\n

May God bless and fill your team for His glory.<\/p>\n

May He give you wisdom and guidance as you seek His will.<\/p>\n

In all your ways acknowledge him,\u00a0and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:6 (ESV)<\/em><\/p>\n
