While many churches have invested in email list programs that allow email segmenting for church staff members and volunteers to use, not all have.<\/p>\n

Before starting your own women\u2019s ministry email list, please make a formal request. Your exclusion may have been an innocent oversight.<\/p>\n

If your church does not have an email service or is unable to provide email support for your women\u2019s ministry, you will need to use an email list service.<\/p>\n

What are the benefits of using an email list service?<\/h3>\n

1. Access<\/h4>\n

One of the most significant benefits of using an email list service is you can easily share access with other women\u2019s ministry team members<\/strong>. If only one person has all the names in their email address book on their personal computer, you and the rest of your team are must rely on that person\u2019s availability and ability to send out your information correctly and promptly.<\/p>\n

2. Delivery<\/h4>\n

Not sure if your women received your email? Now you can check. Most services allow you to see who opened each email<\/strong> and who did not. You may even be able to re-send your email to those that didn\u2019t open it the first time.<\/p>\n

3. Ease<\/h4>\n

You can easily add new women<\/strong> to the email list, and there\u2019s no need to worry that you forgot to check a box to add someone to the email before pressing send. Search to see if there\u2019s a bulk option for adding emails to the service you choose; it may be less work than you think!<\/p>\n

4. Replies<\/h4>\n

You eliminate the ability of your women to \u201creply all\u201d sending spam or personal information to the entire group. <\/p>\n

5. Security<\/h4>\n

Your women\u2019s ministry email address book is stored securely online<\/strong>. It\u2019s not lost if someone\u2019s laptop crashes or is infected by a computer virus.<\/p>\n

6. Templates<\/h4>\n

Most email list services allow you to create templates, so all of your emails have a similar look and style<\/strong>. Links to social media and your website page can be embedded at the bottom of each email. There\u2019s no need to attach a pretty PDF or send plain text \u2013 you can customize your emails<\/strong>, and they\u2019ll look professional and impressive<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

Thankfully, there are several free and inexpensive email list services available online your team can use.<\/h4>\n

Please check each website to view their current rates and limitations.<\/p>\n

Here are several email list service options:<\/h3>\n
    \n
  1. Mailchimp<\/a> \u2013 Free up to 1000 subscribers, 10,000 sends per month <\/li>\n
  2. Mailerlite<\/a> \u2013 Free up to 1000 subscribers, 12,000 emails per month <\/li>\n
  3. Flodesk<\/a> – While in beta it’s $19.99\/month for unlimited emails and unlimited subscribers (regular price $38). Click my link to get the special beta price. <\/a><\/li>\n
  4. Convert Kit<\/a> \u2013 Free up to 500 subscribers<\/li>\n
  5. Madmimi<\/a> – $10\/month for up to 500 subscribers <\/li>\n
  6. Sendinblue<\/a> \u2013 Free up to 500 subscribers, normally limited to 300 emails per day <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    I was using Mailchimp, but have made the switch to Flodesk.<\/p>\n

    Things to consider:<\/h4>\n
      \n
    1. How many addresses<\/strong> can we input?<\/li>\n
    2. How many times<\/strong> can we send out an email each day and each month?<\/li>\n
    3. Do they have templates<\/strong> we can use? (You want this option.)<\/li>\n
    4. What is the cost<\/strong>?<\/li>\n
    5. Can you tag, label, or create separate lists<\/strong> so you can target smaller groups?<\/li>\n
    6. Can you view analytics<\/strong>? You’ll want to see how many and who opened their email.<\/li>\n
    7. Can you set up email automations<\/strong>?<\/li>\n
    8. Will you have room to grow<\/strong>, or will you need to upgrade to a paid account?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      You may be wondering, is it worth all the work<\/strong> to transfer the email addresses we have to an entirely new system? I say, yes!<\/p>\n

      Email is the best way to connect with the greatest number of women.<\/h4>\n

      Important information should always be sent by email first. Social media channels<\/a> provide a second layer of communication and serve as reminders.<\/p>\n
