(That\u2019s a debate for another day).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How can pastors make certain the women in their church feel that:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Women matter<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Women belong<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>No matter the level of support a church leader currently offers, there\u2019s likely room for improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the <a href=\"https:\/\/churchleaders.com\/outreach-missions\/outreach-missions-articles\/302541-working-women-leaving-church-heres-bring-back-diane-paddison.html\">number of women active in the church continues to decline<\/a>, ministry support to women becomes more critical.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">12 Ways Church Leaders Can Support Ministry to Women<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Encourage participation in women\u2019s ministry events and activities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Verbally from the stage, in words in emails and newsletters, whenever and wherever you can.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Encourage women of all ages to attend, but also spouses to support their wife&#8217;s attendance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Ensure the stage mirrors your audience.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Take a <strong>count of the number of women<\/strong> that are viewed from the pews. If the balance is off, <strong>find creative ways to affirm the value of women in your church<\/strong>, regardless of your stance on women preaching from the pulpit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ask women to read the text for the sermon, pass the offering plate, distribute the communion elements, sing lead on the worship team, make the weekly announcements, or any other task that does not conflict with your church\u2019s doctrinal beliefs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Meet regularly with the leaders of the women\u2019s ministry team.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Provide <strong>encouragement and accountability<\/strong> for a ministry that is focused on God\u2019s Word and making disciples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Offer <strong>prayer and financial support<\/strong> so they can reach more women in the church and community. Sadly more funds are often allocated for a week of Vacation Bible School than a year\u2019s worth of programming for a women\u2019s ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Celebrate the gifts and service of both men and women in your church.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Publically acknowledge service milestones and the work of volunteers being mindful not to neglect the women that may have offered support without a formal title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Read Christian books written by women.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Most church leaders cite male authors regularly, but <strong>rarely quote women<\/strong>. Consider Elisabeth Elliot and Corrie Ten Boom for starters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Add some contemporary female Christian authors to your reading list, not just for quoting purposes, but to <strong>keep your finger on the pulse of what your women are reading<\/strong> \u2013 <em>not all of it aligns with God\u2019s Word.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6. Bridge the gap when challenges to participation arise.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A <strong>lack of childcare<\/strong> is often one of the biggest obstacles women face when attending a women&#8217;s ministry event \u2013 ensure necessary funds are available and serve in the nursery if needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Protect any event or activity that\u2019s been placed on the calendar<\/strong> \u2013 make certain no competing events are scheduled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7. Highlight women in the Bible.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While a sermon or teaching series on Ruth, Mary, or Esther is always appreciated, <strong>women appear throughout the Bible, but their roles are often skipped over.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8. Be sensitive to common triggers for women.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>More than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.focusonthefamily.com\/pro-life\/survey-women-go-silently-from-church-to-abortion-clinic\/\">4 in 10 women<\/a> who have had an abortion were churchgoers when they ended a pregnancy. An estimated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/preview\/mmwrhtml\/ss6308a1.htm\">1 in 5 women<\/a> has been raped. About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/pregnancy-loss-miscarriage\/symptoms-causes\/syc-20354298\">10 to 20 percent<\/a> of known pregnancies end in miscarriage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The mention of any one of those topics without warning could send some of your women into an emotional crisis. <strong>Before preaching on any sensitive issue, seek out feedback from trusted women and make any suggested changes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">9. View ministry to women as a bridge to active attendance, participation, and membership.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Just as most first-time guests make their first visit virtually, <strong>women often come to a women\u2019s event before attending a weekend worship service.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Women\u2019s ministry events done with excellence encourage women to invite their <strong>unchurched friends and neighbors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">10. Provide paid training for all leaders \u2013 men and women.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Invite women leaders<\/strong> to attend the next association or denominational meeting. Ask what <strong>conference<\/strong> they\u2019d like to attend next year and cover the costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Identify mature Christian women and assist them in finding places in which <strong>to serve using their spiritual gifts<\/strong>, including, but not limited to, the women\u2019s ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">11. Select the best women\u2019s ministry leader for the job.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Nepotism prevents gifted women (and men) from serving in their calling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Children\u2019s, youth, music, and <strong>other ministry leaders<\/strong> are often <strong>recruited, included, and compensated in ways women\u2019s ministry leaders are not<\/strong>, but should be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">12.
