Candela, that’s a great question and the answer varies from church to church. Some churches provide financial support, food pantries, job training, childcare, etc. to help mothers and children. Most often they are referred to parachurch ministries in the community that have a process in place for providing the needed assistance. I know many of the Pregnancy Life Centers in my local area have an expansive amount of resources, including many of the things you mentioned.

I’d suggest asking your pastor what your church provides and checking to see what is offered in your community. If there is a Love Life chapter in your area, be sure to check them out too.

You argue that the unborn child should receive love no matter the consequences. However, I am interested in knowing aside from mental help and support. Mental goes a long way, however, loving a child is not going to put food on the plate. How and when does the church help economically, in form of actually providing the mother with the required resources for her and her child to live and not survive? How do they receive an education? When do they then get the ability to have a job? and other things that require money?

Mary, how wonderful! Thank you for sharing your experience with other leaders. I pray it will be an encouragement to them!

The shower for them is planned in a couple of weeks. It has been a powerful ministry making the church a safe and healing place.
